I just looked back at your "snow" photos and cannot believe the extreme change in the environment. Here in Australia, if you live near the bush you have to accept that maint burning is important to reduce the amount of "fuel" which is so dry in Summer. In the places where "Environmentalists" managed to put forth the argument for not doing maint burning the areas later had the worst bush fires in history.

@Lemuel: If it were a true redneck fire the fragrance would be the fumes escaping from the aerosol cans the rednecks put in the fire so they can watch them explode.

Still, it's good Cameron and James are doing this as it will help cut down fire risk later this season. We used to do this on the family property about 100 miles south of the cabin in the woods.

The fragrance of such fires is marvelous. It'll make rednecks out of the most citified folk.

There's something so archaic and primeval about a big bonfire. The ancients used to say the smoke was the spirit and the sparks were the prayers of the faithful.
i just think a big fire is cool.
