You may consider cutting the lower limbs off your trees for a park-like setting. It will also remove the "fuel-ladder" should a fire come through. You could end up buring the scrub on the ground, but the trees may make it. Drag the cut underbrush out into the meadow and burn it before fire season sets in. I'm telling you, the native Americans were smart. They would purposely start fires and it would burn out the underbrush, then we stupid white people showed up and fought the fires.
